Brian Adler, director of public relations & marketing at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, was awarded the Natalea Watkins Communicator of the Year Award during the Oklahoma College Public Relations Association (OCPRA) and Communicators Council fall workshop and luncheon held November 18 in Tulsa.

OCPRA presents the "Communicator of the Year Award" to honor a communications professional from one of the state's colleges and universities-both public and private two-year and four-year institutions-whose service and leadership have set a high standard for others. The award, a Remington sculpture from the Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa, is named in honor of retired Oklahoma State University Director of Communications Natalea Watkins.

Adler has worked in Oklahoma Higher Education for over two decades.  Active in various community, civic and professional organizations, Adler is a past president of the Weatherford Area Chamber of Commerce and currently serves on the executive committee of the Vision 2020 program for Weatherford. He serves as chair of the Weatherford Hotel/Motel Tax Advisory Committee.

He has twice served as chairman of the Oklahoma State Regents Communicators Council and is a past president of the OCPRA.  He is active in many areas at SWOSU.
