SWOSU's Jeong Selected for State Capitol Art Exhibition
E.K. Jeong, assistant professor of art at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, was chosen among 17 Oklahoma artists to have an exhibition at the Oklahoma State Capitol starting December 7 and continuing through January 31.
Jeong's showing will be located in the Governor's Gallery, located on the second floor of the State Capitol, adjacent to the Governor's Blue Room. The gallery is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The 17 artists will have a meet and greet session with the public on Tuesday, December 8, from 4-6 p.m. Everyone is invited.
The 17 artists chosen represent the finest in contemporary Oklahoma art.
Jeong's other achievements include participation in national and international exhibitions. She was invited to exhibit her work in the 4th and 5th International Fiber Art Biennales in Suzhou and Beijing, China (2006 and 2008). She also won the Best of Show in the juried exhibition, "Paper Work In, On, and Of Paper IV." She is scheduled to have a solo show at the Foundry Art Centre in St. Charles (MO) in the summer of 2010.
Jeong is currently working on a collaborative public art project, a large-format tapestry depicting the natural wonders of western Oklahoma. She and her SWOSU students also recently made major contributions to a mural project located at the Weatherford YMCA.
