SWOSU to Host Series of Webinars to Assist Area Residents in Job Searches

A series of free webinars are planned at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford to provide career coaching to students, alumni and area residents who might be searching for jobs.

Tiffany Hawkins, assistant director of career services at SWOSU, said the university and TalentMarks.com are offering nine webinars featuring authors and experts who will share how to organize job searches, plan careers, build networks, create brands, develop killer resumes and use Linkedin and Facebook to get jobs.

All webinars will be held on Wednesdays at 2 p.m. in Stafford Center Room 104. Everyone is invited to pick and choose or participate in all webinars.

Hawkins said according to a 2009 survey from the National Association of Colleges and Employers, only 19.7% of the 2009 graduates who applied for a job had one by the time they graduated. That is in contrast to 51% in 2008.  In a 2010 spring survey by the same group, employers are planning to hire 5.3% more new college graduates than they did the previous year.
