Silent Witness Exhibit Planned Tuesday at SWOSU
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and SWOSU will have a silent witness exhibit on the Weatherford campus on Tuesday, October 26, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the Memorial Student Center lobby.
The exhibit is sponsored by the Oklahoma Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault (OCADVSA) and features nearly 100 red silhouettes representing a woman, man or child who died as a result of domestic violence in Oklahoma since 2000. The silhouettes each feature the name and story of that individual.
Wendy Henson, violence prevention project coordinator at SWOSU, said representatives from OCADVSA, Action Associates, Inc. and the District Attorney's Office will be at the event providing information about domestic violence and to answer questions. There will also be cookies and punch provided by the Weatherford chapter of the American Association of University Women and free awareness bracelets provided by SWOSU's VIPER program.
Everyone is invited.
