SWOSU Tekes Living in a Box This Weekend for Worthy Cause

November 18, 2010

Teke in a box?

Area residents might want to check it out this weekend (November 19-21) when members of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity at Southwestern Oklahoma State University will live out of boxes at United Supermarket in Weatherford.

The reason? The TKEs are raising funds and canned goods for the Weatherford Food Pantry to help area residents who are in need.

Joseph Dube, president of TKE, said fraternity members will be in the parking lot at 920 E. Main Street on Friday from 12 noon until 10 p.m., Saturday from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m. and Sunday from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m.

Dube said the fraternity likes doing the community service projects and this was a unique way to raise funds for a worthy cause. TKE has already contributed $2,550 to various non-profit organizations and, after this weekend’s project, will have completed over 1,000 hours of community service this semester alone.
