Southwestern Oklahoma State University recently received an $111,410 grant to continue a violence prevention project on the Weatherford campus.

Dr. Cynthia Foust is principal investigator of the grant and Wendy Henson is project director.

The grant was a subcontract from East Central University. SWOSU is part of a flagship project through the Regional University System of Oklahoma Violence Prevention Project (RUSO-VPP) from the Office of Violence Against Women, which awards grants to reduce domestic violence, stalking, or sexual assault on campuses throughout Oklahoma.

The goal of the project and Henson is to effectively minimize the incidence of interpersonal violence in the campus community by strengthening collaboration between partners on and off campus, educating all incoming students, promoting awareness throughout the campus community and training key employees on campus about signs of violence and how to respond effectively to ensure that survivors have access to services.

For more information about the violence prevention project, please contact Henson at (580) 774-6037.
