Southwestern Oklahoma State University's New Student Orientation coordinator Shelby Unruh and staff member Jena Skarda in Weatherford won a regional award at the recent National Orientation Directors Association regional conference held in College Station, Texas.

Unruh and Skarda collaboratively presented a program at the conference entitled "Plugging in the Brightest: High Voltage Orientation Leader Recruiting."  Their presentation was selected by the NODA conference as the Regional Showcase Award Winner as the top presentation out of 36 total presentations.

The award entitles them to the opportunity to present their program at the National NODA conference this fall in New Orleans.

Staff and student groups from 19 different colleges and universities within the region were in attendance at the College Station event. Accompanying Unruh and Skarda to the conference were seven of SWOSU's New Student Orientation leaders, including Ryan Brewer, Myka Davis, Mica Andrews, Heather Hoock, Tammy Hooper, Kadie Davis and Allyson Lederer.
