SWOSU's Holdge to Attend Horatio Alger Association National Conference

Dalton Holdge, a Ft. Cobb-Broxton senior at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, is attending the 2011 Horatio Alger Association National Conference in Washington, D.C.

Holdge, who is majoring in finance at SWOSU, recently traveled to Dallas to help with a fundraising event for Texas state scholarships. While there, the Horatio Alger Association formally invited Holdge to attend the 2011 national conference.

In Washington, D.C., Holdge will attend numerous events with the Horatio Alger Association and will even meet Leonardo Dicaprio and other successful people. Holdge will get to speak at the U.S. State Department, and his speech will center on facing adversity and never compromising your beliefs.

Holdge was awarded the 2009 Horatio Alger national scholarship, which consists of $20,000 over a five-year period.

At SWOSU, Holdge is member of Tau Kappa Epsilon and the president of Phi Beta Lambda.

It was recently announced that Weatherford High School student Silas G. Huereca is a 2011 recipient of a $5,000 Horatio Alger Association Scholarship.
