Pittman Named SWOSU College of Pharmacy Outstanding Alumnus

David R. Pittman of Sulphur has been named the 2011 Outstanding Alumnus of the Southwestern Oklahoma State University College of Pharmacy in Weatherford.

Pittman was honored during the recent SWOSU College of Pharmacy Awards and White Coat Ceremony held on the SWOSU campus. The Outstanding Alumnus award is presented each year to an individual demonstrating exceptional support of the SWOSU College of Pharmacy and outstanding personal achievements in the profession.

Pittman is a two-time graduate of SWOSU receiving both his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy and his Doctor of Pharmacy.  

He has been owner of Sooner Pharmacy in Sulphur since 1968 and owner of Pittman Angus Ranch since 1969. Pittman is a past-president of the Oklahoma Pharmacists Association and past chairman of the Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Service.

Pittman is the epitome of a true life-long learner.  In addition to his degrees at SWOSU, the 1960 Shawnee High School graduate has received degrees from Oklahoma Baptist University, Oklahoma City Community College and LaSalle University in gerontology and health services management and is a Fellow of the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists.

Pittman became a lifetime member of the Southwestern Pharmacy Alumni Association in 2000. He and his wife, Linda, have five children and 15 grandchildren.
