Guard Officer Leadership Development Promotion Ceremony Planned Wednesday at SWOSU
Southwestern Oklahoma State University and the Oklahoma Army National Guard will have a promotion ceremony this Wednesday, August 24, on the Weatherford campus.
The public is invited to the 2 p.m. pinning ceremony for Bradley Yoder and Danny Huddleston, both who attended Accelerated Officer Candidate School this past summer. The two completed the intense eight-week course and were the top two graduates in their class. They received the Leadership, Distinguished Honor Graduate and Honor Graduate Awards.
The ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. in Room 104 of the Stafford Center.
The Guard Officer Leadership Development (GOLD) program is offered on the SWOSU campus. The purpose of the program is to develop future officers, who will be federal-recognized commission officers, and to offer SWOSU students a minor program in tactical leadership.
The GOLD program is a minimum of four semesters with no weekend drills. The program is designed to be a four-year program with exceptions made for military experience, civilian education and combat leadership. For military students who complete the program, they become Second Lieutenants.
The GOLD program office is located in Room 310 of the Stafford Center. For additional information, contact Glen Waggoner at 580.774.6033 or at email@example.com.
