Wear Purple Day Planned Thursday at SWOSU
“Wear Purple Day” is planned this Thursday, October 6, on the campus of Southwestern Oklahoma State University to show support for all victims and survivors of domestic violence.
The event is part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October.
Purple was chosen as the official color of Domestic Violence Awareness Month to represent courage, survival, honor and dedication, according to Violence Prevention Projects Coordinator Wendy Henson on the Weatherford campus. Individuals will gather together across the country on Thursday wearing purple as a unifying symbol to stop domestic violence.
Wear Purple Day also coincides with the Domestic Violence Awareness Month award ceremony at 1:30 p.m. in the Blue Room of the Oklahoma State Capitol Building in Oklahoma City.
