Understanding Mineral Rights Series Kicks Off October 13 at SWOSU
October 5, 2011
The first of three free seminars for mineral owners and interested parties in western Oklahoma will be Thursday, October 13, from 6-8 p.m. at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford.
Chesapeake and Chesapeake Manager of Corporate Development and Government Relations James Roller and Field Engineer Steve Schmidt will be the speakers for the session on “Oklahoma Unconventional Oil and Natural Gas Production: An American Energy Answer.”
The free seminar is being held at the SWOSU Conference Center, located at the corner of Seventh and Davis Streets in Weatherford. The seminar is sponsored by the SWOSU Office of Continuing Education.
Roller’s day-to-day activities include external and public relations specifically related to Chesapeake’s efforts to move America towards energy independence. Roller, who is a Clinton High School graduate, is one of Oklahoma's foremost experts on natural gas vehicles, and as part of Chesapeake’s market development team, has been crucial to the development of Oklahoma's thriving natural gas infrastructure.
Schmidt, a native Texan, started his engineering career both at Chesapeake and in Weatherford in 2010. In his role as field engineer, Schmidt began on the production side, assisting with the design of emissions compliant facilities and helping with the optimization of artificial lift systems, among other projects. He currently works with completions, specifically working to install down hole artificial lift systems.
This seminar is part of the SWOSU Continuing Education programs on three Thursday nights that will focus on exploring issues regarding oil and gas in Oklahoma. The public is invited and encouraged to attend the other programs on October 27 and November 10 at 6 p.m. at the SWOSU Conference Center. Upcoming programs are:
