Work is now underway on the renovation of the Downtown SWOSU building owned by Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford.

The building, located at 210 W. Main Street, will be the future home of a SWOSU museum and offices for the Weatherford Area Chamber of Commerce.

Rick Skinner, director of the physical plant, met with architects on October 26 to finalize the plans. Materials have been ordered and preparation is underway for the construction phase that should take approximately six months.

Skinner said SWOSU workers will build two offices, a t-shaped lobby and large conference room. Space for the museum will be located in the back of the building and the lobby area will be available for art shows and display areas.

The front outside of the building will also be renovated in the near future to compliment efforts of the Weatherford downtown revitalization project.
