Miss Oklahoma Plans Three Days of Activities in Western Oklahoma and SWOSU
Miss Oklahoma Betty Thompson will be mistress of ceremonies at this Saturday’s (November 12) Miss SWOSU Pageant on the Weatherford campus, and Thompson will be attending school assemblies in Clinton, Hydro-Eakly and Weatherford on both Thursday and Friday.
Thompson won the title of Miss Oklahoma 2011 this past June in Tulsa and will be going to the Miss America Pageant this January. As Miss Oklahoma, Thompson is promoting her platform—Milk It Really Does a Body Good—that is inspired by growing up on a small Jersey dairy farm near Davenport in eastern Oklahoma.
On Thursday, Thompson will attend school assemblies at Weatherford West Elementary, Clinton Washington Elementary, Hydro-Eakly Public Schools and Weatherford High School. On Friday, she will be at Weatherford Burcham Elementary School; Weatherford East Elementary, Clinton Middle School and Weatherford Middle School.
On Saturday, she will emcee and entertain at the Miss SWOSU Pageant that starts at 7 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center on the SWOSU campus. This year’s pageant features seven Miss SWOSU contestants, seven Miss SWOSU’s Outstanding Teen contestants and 27 Little Stars.
Advance tickets are $7 for non-SWOSU students and $5 for SWOSU students. All tickets at the door are $10. Advance tickets are available in Room 205 of the SWOSU Administration Building and from all contestants.
Thompson, who will entertain pageant goers Saturday night, dances with the world known McTeggart Irish Dancers and represented the United States at the World Irish Dance Championships for four years and the all-Ireland Dance Championships for five years. She was the first Oklahoman to medal at the competition.
