SWOSU Mind Games Teams Win Over $10,000 in Scholarship Money
November 18, 2011
Southwestern Oklahoma State University’s two Mind Games teams were very successful during the inaugural season of the academic challenge game, which was aired this fall on KSBI-TV in Oklahoma City.
The two teams earned $10,750 in cash scholarship funds, according to SWOSU coach Kevin Collins. SWOSU’s Blue team made it to the tournament semifinals, finishing with a 2-1 record, while the White team advanced to the quarterfinals, finishing 1-1. Both SWOSU teams were on the same side of the bracket and both lost to the eventual champion.
Before the tournament, the SWOSU teams had voted on a way to divide any prize money that was won during the event. The teams voted to donate approximately 10% of their winnings to the SWOSU General Scholarship Fund, which resulted in a $1,065.85 donation.
