Robotics Competition This Saturday at SWOSU
Southwestern Oklahoma State University is hosting its 3rd annual First Tech Challenge robotics competition this Saturday, December 3, on the Weatherford campus, and area residents are invited to stop by and visit the exciting competition.
Nearly 250 high school students on 22 teams from across Oklahoma and one from Albuquerque (NM) will be on the SWOSU campus for the event that will have competition from 10 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. in the Wellness Center with an award ceremony following the competition.
The FTC is sponsored by the SWOSU Department of Engineering Technology. Brad Fitzgerald of the department said the teams will arrive on Friday afternoon to participate in judged interviews and for practices. This SWOSU competition is one of three qualifiers being held across Oklahoma where teams will be competing to make the state competition on March 3 at SWOSU.
High school teams comprised of 10 members each have designed, built and programmed robots to compete against other teams' robots.
The event is made possible by SWOSU, NASA and the City of Weatherford Hotel/Motel Tax Fund.
