Blood Drive with a Thunder Theme Planned February 6-7 at SWOSU
January 25, 2012
The Oklahoma Blood Institute will be on the Weatherford campus of Southwestern Oklahoma State University on Monday and Tuesday, February 6-7, for an Oklahoma City Thunder themed blood drive.
The blood drive will be held from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day in the SWOSU Wellness Center.
The drive is sponsored by Residence Life.
“We’ve set records in the past for numbers of donations and we hope it continually grows,” said Director of Residence Life Chad Martin.
Students, faculty, staff and the general public are invited to participate and all donors receive a free t-shirt, health screenings and donor reward points.
To go along with the Thunder theme, donors will have their choice of a Thunder t-shirt or a SWOSU t-shirt, while supplies last. Also, every donor will be entered to win tickets to an upcoming Thunder game. The ticket package includes two lower level seats for the OKC Thunder vs. the Boston Celtics on February 22, along with meal vouchers.
According to info from the OBI, one blood donation can save up to three lives. Yet, less than ten percent of eligible Americans donate.
“Make sure to eat well, get a good night’s sleep and drink plenty of fluids before donating,” said Richard Story, OBI consultant.
