SWOSU Student Teachers Learn About Health Issues

SWOSU nursing instructor Tammy Blatnick works with SWOSU Department of Education students on a variety of health issues that the students might encounter during their 12-week student teaching assignments this spring semester. The SWOSU Department of Nursing faculty and students presented information and activities concerning blood borne pathogens such as HIV, Hepatitis C and B, MRSA, H1N1 and prevention techniques.  Also, Weatherford Public Schools nurse, Jane Cole, presented a variety of issues to the student teachers including food allergies, asthma, vision/hearing screenings, diabetes, 504 accommodation plans, head lice, CPR/AED, MRSA and seizures. The guest speakers presented information to SWOSU teacher candidates as part of the Contemporary Issues in Education class.
