SWOSU Foundation Raises $106,000 During End of Year Fund Drive
Over $106,000 was raised during the Southwestern Oklahoma State University Foundation’s end-of-year annual fund drive on the Weatherford campus.
Lynne Thurman, assistant to the president for institutional advancement, said the donations from December and January provided support for areas of need and scholarships for the College of Art & Sciences, College of Professional and Graduate Studies, College of Pharmacy and SWOSU-Sayre.
“Annual giving allows SWOSU to provide extraordinary opportunities for learning and discovery, extend the financial aid program for students who depend on it, and to help meet emerging needs and challenges,” SWOSU President Randy Beutler said. “A gift—no matter what the size—really does make a difference.”
Thurman said private dollars are important for SWOSU. State funding for SWOSU’s operating budget has dropped from 82% in 1984 to a current 44.3%.
“It takes more than a vision to advance SWOSU’s mission of quality, affordable, accessible education—it also takes private support,” Thurman said. “Thanks to all of our alumni and friends who have helped with this investment in SWOSU’s future.”
