Members of two President’s Leadership Classes at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford recently took tours of The Children’s Center in Bethany and the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum in Oklahoma City.

PLC classes V and VI were involved with the trip.

The Children’s Center in Bethany was the first stop for the students and they were greeted by SWOSU graduate Lori Boyd, who is vice president for special projects at the center. Students were allowed to tour the facility, meet several staff members and hear about volunteer opportunities.  The Children’s Center is a private, non-profit hospital dedicated to helping children with complex medical and physical disabilities and maximizing their potential in an atmosphere of love and hope.  The Children’s Center employs many SWOSU graduates from the health care administration, nursing, business and music therapy programs.

After the hospital tour, the students headed to the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum.  Students leisurely made their way through the museum dedicated to the victims and survivors of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building bombing in April, 1995.  Students also toured the grounds of the park.

The PLC classes were accompanied by Todd Boyd, director of the program.
