SWOSU Pleased with Results of Governor Fallin's Business Leaders Survey

April 5, 2012

Southwestern Oklahoma State University officials are pleased to see the release of an extensive state survey that reports business leaders indicate the highest ranking business factor for their success is the quality of two and four-year colleges and universities in the state of Oklahoma.

Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin and the Oklahoma Department of Commerce released the FallinForBusiness.com business climate story on April 4. Nearly 5,400 business leaders from all 77 counties responded to the survey this past December/January.

“This survey reiterates the importance of higher education to Oklahoma and SWOSU to this area of the state,” SWOSU President Randy Beutler said. “SWOSU will continue to be a focal point for the economic future of western Oklahoma.”

The survey asked business owners and executives for feedback on the areas where Oklahoma excels. Other top factors in the survey for a successful business climate were (in order): access to supplies required to conduct business; career tech system preparation for the workplace; affordable housing options for employees; and recreational opportunities.

“We appreciate our relationships with the many business people in western Oklahoma and look forward to working even more with them in the future,” Beutler said.
