Retirement Party Planned for SWOSU Professor Gary Wolgamott After 44 Years of Service
A faculty member who has served 44 years at Southwestern Oklahoma State University will be honored at a retirement party on Friday, May 4, on the Weatherford campus.
Dr. Gary Wolgamott, associate dean of the School of Allied Health Sciences, is retiring from SWOSU and will be honored at the come-and-go party from 2-4 p.m. in the Memorial Student Center East Ballroom.
The public is invited to attend the event to honor Wolgamott for his long-time service to SWOSU. He started in 1968 and is retiring at the end of May.
Wolgamott has been involved in so many activities at SWOSU and has won many awards, citations and accomplishments that they are too numerous to mention. He taught many subjects during his years at SWOSU including: Microbiology, Immunology, Virology, Epidemiology, Pathogenic Microbiology, Hominology, Origin of Life, Human Genetics and Space Science Workshops.
Among his many state and national accomplishments are: chairman and president of the Oklahoma Academy of Science; president of the National Biological Honor Society (Tri Beta); president of the Oklahoma Consortium of Clinical Laboratory Science Affiliates; and national secretary for 33 years for Lambda Tau, the national medical technology honor society.
