SWOSU Faculty Receive Promotions and Tenure

Six Southwestern Oklahoma State University faculty members have been awarded promotions, and four faculty members have received tenure effective with the 2012-13 academic year.

The changes were approved at a recent meeting of the Regional University System of Oklahoma Regents, according to SWOSU President Randy Beutler.

The following faculty members were approved for advancement in rank:

From Associate Professor to Professor

  • Dr. Melinda Burgess, Department of Psychology
  • Dr. Joel Kendall, Department of Communication and Theatre 

From Assistant Professor to Associate Professor

  • Dr. Jimena Aracena, Department of Biological Sciences
  • Dr. David Esjornson, Department of Chemistry and Physics
  • Dr. Andrea Holgado, Department of Biological Sciences
  • Dr. Evette Meliza, Department of Education

Tenure

  • Dr. Daniel Farris, Department of Music
  • Dr. Faruk Khan, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences
  • Dr. Evette Meliza, Department of Education
  • Dr. Tami Moser, Department of Finance, Marketing and Management
