The Capitol Steps Coming to SWOSU on October 15
The Capitol Steps of Washington, D.C., will appear at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford at a perfect time—right before the upcoming presidential election.
The nationally-known Capitol Steps will perform on Monday, October 15, as part of the university’s Panorama series. Known for their political satire claiming to put the “Mock” in Democracy, The Capitol Steps will perform at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center.
“With the political elections just a few weeks away, this timely event will allow area residents and students to enjoy laughs apart from the serious business of politics,” said Brian Adler, chair of the Panorama Committee. “SWOSU is fortunate to have this famous group on our campus, and it should be an enjoyable evening for all.”
Adler said the show is fast moving and one big political cartoon in motion. The show is rated PG-13. There is no profanity in the show but there may be some sexual innuendo, depending on the latest news items.
The Steps’ material is updated constantly and you can be assured that Mitt Romney and President Barack Obama will be featured in several of the skits. No matter who or what is in the headlines, the Capitol Steps will tackle all sides of the political spectrum.
Advance ticket prices are $5 for SWOSU students, faculty/staff and emeriti; $10 for others; and $20 for all tickets at the door. Tickets are available at the SWOSU Public Relations & Marketing Office, Room 205 of the Administration Building; SWOSU Business Office, Room 109 of the Administration Building; SWOSU Business Office at Sayre; and Weatherford Daily News. Tickets can also be purchased with a credit card by calling 580.774.3019.
