Southwest National Bank with locations in Weatherford, Custer City and Mustang has pledged $25,000 to the new event center being built on the Southwestern Oklahoma State University campus in Weatherford.

The gift to SWOSU will be used for the multi-media jumbo video board that is planned in the 93,000 square foot event center.

“Southwest National Bank has always supported SWOSU and will proudly continue,” said Southwest National Bank President Phil Dickey.

Southwest National Bank is a family-owned community bank that was originally chartered in 1907 by the Dickey family. The bank opened its Weatherford branch in 1995 and has continuously employed many SWOSU students.

Several Southwest National Bank current employees are SWOSU graduates, including Jeff Dickey, Jack Dickey Jr., Cody Parker, Annetta Jennings and Trish Hoffman.  The Dickey family also notes that Neoma (Ruddell) Dickey, better known as Grandmother Dickey, was a freshman at SWOSU in 1921.

“SWOSU appreciates Southwest National Bank’s generosity as the university prepares for the exciting event center project,” said President Randy Beutler.

The event center is expected to be completed in late 2013. The video board that Southwest National Bank is helping sponsor will be used for advertisements, promotions, videos and game-day shots.
