Thunder-Themed Blood Drive Planned February 4-5 at SWOSU
January 30, 2013
The Oklahoma Blood Institute will be on the Weatherford campus of Southwestern Oklahoma State University this Monday and Tuesday, February 4-5, for an Oklahoma City Thunder themed blood drive.
The blood drive will be held from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day in the SWOSU Wellness Center. To go along with the Thunder theme, donors will have their name entered to win two lower-level Thunder tickets for a game later this season.
The drive is sponsored by SWOSU Residence Life.
“Last year we set the record for most donations in the history of SWOSU blood drives and hope to improve this year,” said Director of Residence Life Chad Martin.
Students, faculty, staff and the general public are invited to participate, and all donors receive a free t-shirt, health screenings and donor reward points.
According to information from the OBI, one blood donation can save up to three lives. Yet, less than 10 percent of eligible Americans donate. Helpful tips for a successful donation include eating well, getting a good night’s sleep and drinking plenty of fluids before giving blood.
