Plant Ecologist to Speak Wednesday at SWOSU
Plant ecologist Dr. Lara Souza will speak this Wednesday, March 13, on the Southwestern Oklahoma State University campus as part of the Department of Biological Sciences’ series of seminars.
Souza’s seminar is scheduled for 4 p.m. in Room 212 of the Old Science Building on the Weatherford campus. The public is invited to the free presentation.
Souza’s research interests focus on the effects of global change, in particular climatic change and biological invasions, on the structure and function of grassland ecosystems with an eye towards carbon cycling. She recently joined the faculty at the University of Oklahoma and has a split appointment with the Oklahoma Biological Survey and the Department of Microbiology and Plant Biology.
Her fascination with understanding the structure and function of plant communities started with her passion towards gardening as an undergraduate student in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina.
