SWOSU Pharmacy Student Places High at National Competition
Southwestern Oklahoma State University College of Pharmacy student Morgan Greutman of Clarksville (TX) recently finished third runner-up in a national competition.
Greutman represented the Weatherford university at the American Pharmacists Association—Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) National Patient Counseling Competition in Los Angeles (CA). She competed against 123 other pharmacy students from around the country.
She was recognized as a top 10 finalist at the APhA-ASP Awards Ceremony during the organization’s national convention.
SWOSU conducts its own contest each year, and Greutman won first place at the SWOSU event and earned the right to participate in the national competition. Student pharmacists engage in a role-playing scenario with a volunteer patient. The participants must call upon knowledge and skills to effectively guide the patient in medication decisions and therapeutic management guidelines. Scoring is standardized and based on a series of criteria for proper patient counseling.
