SWOSU College of Pharmacy Advisory Council Meets for First Time
The inaugural meeting of the Southwestern Oklahoma State University College of Pharmacy Dean’s Advisory Council was held recently on the Weatherford campus.
The Dean’s Advisory Council is an invited group of regional pharmacy leaders from both public and private sectors whose purpose is to provide a channel of communication between the professional/business communities and the SWOSU College of Pharmacy and to assist with advocacy, philanthropy and general advancement of the college.
The Dean’s Advisory Council assisted SWOSU College of Pharmacy Dean Dr. Dennis Thompson in strategic planning and future opportunities and threats in the changing health care environment. Dr. Les Ramos presented the group an overview of the college’s mission, vision, and values statement along with the current strategic plan. Thompson followed the presentation with a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) analysis of the college and the current, major initiatives of the college.
Thompson said the Dean’s Advisory Council is scheduled to meet on a yearly basis to offer insight into the external environment—from legislative to industry trends—that impacts the college’s mission and strategic plan.
Members of the SWOSU College of Pharmacy first-ever Dean’s Advisory Council are: Janet Beard (Devol/Wichita Falls TX), Carl Birdsong (Amarillo TX), Derek Dennis (Mustang), Roger Enix (Edmond), John Foust (Wyandotte/Oklahoma City), Doyle High (Austin, TX), Kirk Irby (Artesia, NM), Yvette Morrison (Oklahoma City) and Mary Porter (Oklahoma City).
