Lake Carpenter Appointment to RUSO Board Confirmed by Oklahoma Senate
Lake Carpenter was appointed to the board of the Regional University System of Oklahoma by Governor Mary Fallin to serve a nine year term ending in 2022, and his confirmation by the Oklahoma State Senate was completed on May 13.
Carpenter replaces Dr. Joe Anna Hibler, who served nine years on the RUSO board with her term ending in May, 2013.
Carpenter graduated Magna Cum Laude from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in social science and an endorsement in physical education in 1999. He is Senior Vice President at Bank of Western Oklahoma and serves as Minister of Music at the First Baptist Church of Leedey.
He serves on the Board of Directors and is the President Elect of the Western Oklahoma Bankers Association. He has been a member of the Elk City Rotary Club serving as President and receiving the Paul Harris Fellow Award. He has participated in the Elk City Meals on Wheels program since 2000. He is currently serving on the national board of directors for Cure JM. Carpenter is involved in the Elk City Chamber of Commerce serving on the Ambassador Committee, Oklahoma National Junior Heifer Show Committee and is a past board member.
Carpenter’s passion for education and learning has led him to be involved in a number of organizations that affect the youth of today and their future. The Butler High School graduate is a founding board member for the Leedey Public School Mentor Program and an active mentor. He volunteers with the Special Olympics and has worked as an AWANA volunteer since 2011. Charitable work is a passion of the Carpenter family. They have been involved in Jump Rope for Heart, American Cancer Society’s “Relay for Life”, and are dedicated to CureJM, a research organization searching for a cure for juvenile myositis. He and his girls love to sing and entertain. They use their talent at a variety of events for local charities, theatres, and civic organizations. Carpenter and his wife, Kalee, have two daughters, who are involved in a variety of activities. He uses any spare time to work on the farm with cattle and horses.
The Regional University System of Oklahoma (RUSO) is the largest system of universities in the state.
