SWOSU Employee Named SBA Veteran Champion
Morgan Gould in the Southwestern Oklahoma State University Small Business Development Center in Lawton has been selected as the Small Business Administration’s Veteran Small Business Champion of the Year for his commitment and dedication in providing business assistance services to veterans.
Gould is a business development specialist and is responsible for serving the two military communities of Fort Sill and Altus Air Force Base.
He was honored at a recent luncheon held at the Skirvin Hotel in Oklahoma City.
Under Gould’s direction, counseling and workshops are made available for veterans to receive significant small business information and resources to fuel an ever growing interest in entrepreneurship on the part of his veteran clients. During monthly outreach visits to Fort Sill and Altus AFB, Gould has been able to create an enterprise nurturing climate in which small business ownership is readily discussed as a career option.
In addition to individual counseling, seminars have been developed specifically targeting the needs of veterans going into business. Some of the workshops presented have been: Commercial Insurance for Veterans, SBA Programs for Veterans and Women, and an annual Veterans Conference. Gould also participates in the monthly Transition Assistance Program Trainings at Altus Air Force Base and in the Boots to Business Training held at Fort Sill.
