SWOSU's NSO Seeks Student Leaders
The New Student Orientation (NSO) program at Southwestern Oklahoma State University is looking for leaders.
Each year NSO looks for students to assist with servicing orientation sessions during the spring, summer and fall semesters for incoming freshman. Orientation Leaders (OLs) are guides for new students who are making the transition from their previous environment to the diverse academic, intellectual and social culture of SWOSU.
OL Recruitment Week is September 2-5 on the Weatherford campus and the NSO office has planned several events offering information to interested students. The following events are planned:
- September 2-5 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.—current OLs will be available to answer questions in the Memorial Student Center as well as handing out applications for anyone interested
- September 3 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in Stafford Center 104—OL Super Search is an event where current OLs share their experiences, why they love being a part of this organization and how it has changed their own college experience. Students are invited to ask questions, enjoy pizza and make new connections.
- NSO will be giving “Random Rides for Recruitment” where current OLs give golf cart rides to class for the duration of the week.
“Quiet, loud, outgoing, reserved, fun, or serious--we need students who want to help others and are hard workers,” said Jessica Skinner, coordinator of New Student Orientation. “NSO is also looking for students who want to get ‘plugged in’ at SWOSU.”
Applications are now available at http://www.swosu.edu/admissions/nso/team-nso.asp. The application deadline is Wednesday, September 18, at 5 p.m. Students may contact the NSO office at 580.774.3233 or firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions regarding the program.
