AAUW Kicks Off with Thursday Event at Stafford Museum
Weatherford’s branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) will have its first meeting of the 2013-14 year this Thursday, September 5, at the Stafford Air & Space Museum.
Members will host an informal browsing session from 5:15 to 7 p.m., during which time the general public is welcome to come-and-go to see what AAUW has to offer. Refreshments will be served.
AAUW membership is open to all individuals who have completed a college/university degree (associate, bachelor’s, master’s or doctorate). Current college students are eligible for a free student affiliate membership.
The AAUW Weatherford Branch meets once each month, September through April, to conduct educational, community service and social activities. Branch activities include hosting college scholarships, breast cancer awareness activities, Tech Trek math & science camp for girls and an annual luncheon.
The upcoming AAUW meeting will include a brief program at 6 p.m., during which time plans and ideas will be shared for upcoming events.
Branch officers include: President Lisa Appeddu, President-elect Lori Gwyn, Vice President-Membership Darla Davenport, Past President Patsy Parker, Secretary Laura Endicott, Treasurer Kathy O’Neal and Vice President-Programs Cindi Albrightson.
