Battle of the Genders Set for SWOSU Blood Drive

September 19, 2013

The Oklahoma Blood Institute will be on the Weatherford campus of Southwestern Oklahoma State University this Monday and Tuesday, September 23-24, for a “Battle of the Genders” blood drive.

The blood drive will be held in the Wellness Center from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.

Female donors will be pitted against male donors in a friendly battle for bragging rights to see which gender donates the most. Students, faculty, staff and the general public are invited to participate, and all donors receive a free t-shirt, health screenings and donor reward points.

According to information from the OBI, one blood donation can save up to three lives. Yet, less than 10 percent of eligible Americans donate. Helpful tips for a successful donation include eating well, getting a good night’s sleep and drinking plenty of fluids before giving blood.
