As the nation-wide shortage of school administrators continues to impact Oklahoma school districts, 40 graduate students in the Educational Administration Master’s Degree Program at Southwestern Oklahoma State University are completing administrative internships during the current fall semester on the Weatherford campus.
The interns, all currently classroom teachers, will work under the direct supervision of cooperating administrators in Altus, Ardmore, Blanchard, Bridgecreek, Broken Arrow, Burns Flat-Dill City, Caddo Kiowa Technology Center, Clinton, Comanche, Edmond, Elgin, Glencoe, Green Country Technology Center, Grove, Guymon, Hollis, Lawton, Lone Grove, Medford, Mid-Del, Moore, Muskogee, Mustang, Osage, Stigler, Vinita, and Western Heights School Districts in Oklahoma and in Lamar Consolidated School District in Houston, Texas.
University supervisors for the internships are Dr. Mary Aspedon, Meghan Eliason and Andy North.
The interns will complete the program and graduate from SWOSU with master’s degrees in December or May. Aspedon said many of these graduates will enter school administration positions in Fall 2014.
