Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is Planned Saturday in Weatherford

October 24, 2013

A Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is planned this Saturday (October 26) in Weatherford.

SWOSU College of Pharmacy’s Phi Lambda Sigma is teaming up with the American Pharmacists Association and Phi Delta Chi to host the event at Walgreen’s from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Shawn Nguyen, president of PLS, said this national event aims to provide a safe, convenient and responsible means of disposing of expired, unwanted or unused prescription drugs. The service is free, easy and available to everyone.  By participating in this federal program, individuals can feel safe about their expired or unused medications not going back into the public water system, thus limiting human and aquatic life exposure to various harmful medications.

Additionally, APhA will be onsite to provide free health services, such as blood pressure screening.

The event is being held on SWOSU Homecoming Saturday. Everyone is invited.
