SWOSU & Area Residents Called On for Blood Donations
The Oklahoma Blood Institute will be on the Weatherford campus of Southwestern Oklahoma State University on Monday and Tuesday, December 2-3, for a blood drive sponsored by the SWOSU Guard Officer Leadership Development (GOLD) program.
The blood drive will be held in the Wellness Center from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days, and the public is invited and encouraged to give blood.
According to Richard Story of the OBI, blood supplies are uncomfortably low in Oklahoma, and SWOSU has been asked to maximize its donations. Students, faculty, staff and the general public are invited to participate, and all donors receive a free t-shirt, health screenings and donor reward points.
Story said helpful tips for a successful donation include eating well, getting a good night’s sleep and drinking plenty of fluids before giving blood.
