The Collegiate Activities Board and the Black Student Association at Southwestern Oklahoma State University have planned a series of events to celebrate and honor the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on the Weatherford campus.

The Collegiate Activities Board and the Black Student Association have planned a series of events to celebrate and honor the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on the Weatherford campus.

All students are invited to participate in the events, and the SWOSU campus is closed Monday, January 20, for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

On Tuesday, January 21, a March for a Cause event will begin at 5:30 p.m. Students will start at the Centennial Clock Tower and walk though campus stopping at locations to highlight certain events in Dr. King’s life.

On Wednesday, January 22, a table will be set up in the lobby of the Memorial Student Center for students to write their thoughts on “dream bubbles.” BSA Historian Alfa Abame said the bubbles will be posted to highlight the diversity of students’ dreams.

The final event, a sit-in, is planned for Thursday, January 23, at 12:15 p.m. in the University Grill. Students will host a round table discussion about social issues in today’s society. In addition, artwork and essays will be displayed in Duke’s Diner, the SWOSU cafeteria, throughout the week.
