First Pharmacy Diploma to be Displayed at SWOSU
Southwestern Oklahoma State University’s College of Pharmacy recently received a nice surprise when the family of one of the college’s first four graduates sent the original diploma to the Weatherford university.
The family of Jess Tracy Moore in California sent the diploma to the SWOSU College of Pharmacy.
Moore, who was originally from Erick (OK), was in the first graduating class in July of 1941.
The diploma, a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from Southwestern Institute of Technology, the former name of SWOSU, was issued July 31, 1941. Moore’s children, Barbara Moore Tull, Robert Jay Moore, and Mary Moore Spach, also gifted the College of Pharmacy with press clippings from The Southwestern and a monetary donation to aid with the display’s cost.
The gift comes when the SWOSU College of Pharmacy is getting ready to celebrate its 75th anniversary this April. The diploma will be displayed in the SWOSU College of Pharmacy.
