Tough Enough to Wear Pink 5K Run & Walk is Saturday at SWOSU
The Tough Enough to Wear Pink 5K Run/Walk will be held this Saturday, March 29, on the Weatherford campus of Southwestern Oklahoma State University and runners/walkers can register on the morning of the event.
The theme for this year’s race is “Kicking Cancer’s Asteroid” coined by Brady Boyd, a student at SWOSU. According to Dean of Students Cindy Dougherty, 100 plus runners have pre-registered and there are 115 volunteers that will be scattered throughout the race course. Registration and check-in will be from 7-8:55 a.m. The race starts promptly at 9 a.m. To enter the race, there is a $35 pre-registration fee or a $50 fee for entering the day of the race. All runners and volunteers are invited to eat brunch in the cafeteria for free after the race. Non-runners can eat brunch for $5.
The Tough Enough 5K Committee plans to donate all the proceeds from T-shirt sales to the American Cancer Society. Dean Dougherty said the group has raised around $2,400 so far.
A prize of $250 in Weatherford chamber bucks will be awarded to the top male and female, and the first place male and female winners in each age group will win $25 in chamber bucks. Each runner will also be given a goodie bag filled by local merchants and SWOSU campus offices.
