Yolanda R. Carr Named Office of Sponsored Programs Director at SWOSU
Dr. Yolanda R. Carr has been named director of the Office of Sponsored Programs at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford.
Carr, a native of Louisiana, has been serving as the grants coordinator at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith for six years. Her primary responsibility at UA-Ft. Smith was to establish a Sponsored Programs Office under the Office of Academic Affairs. In addition, she worked with faculty and staff in identifying funding opportunities, developing grant proposals and supporting grant and research related professional development. Carr was instrumental in assisting faculty and staff in securing more than $10 million in federal and state grants.
Prior to assuming the position at UA-Ft. Smith, Carr served as research/compliance officer at Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte (NC), where she was responsible for ensuring grant activities conformed to federal/state laws and institutional regulations. In addition, she served as the grants and contracts management director at Bennett College for Women in Greensboro (NC).
Carr received her bachelor’s degree in Basic Business Education from Grambling (LA) State University, master’s degree in Adult Education from North Carolina A&T State University and her doctorate in Workforce Development Education from the University of Arkansas.
Carr is a member of the American Association of University Women, National Council of University Research Administrators and the Arkansas Council for Women in Higher Education.
Carr will begin work at SWOSU on June 2.
