Timed WARP Planned March 24 at SWOSU SayreThe 15th annual Timed Writing and Research Project (WARP) contest hosted by Southwestern Oklahoma State University-Sayre will be held Tuesday, March 24.
The event is open to all high school juniors, who compete for SWOSU-Sayre scholarships. WARP was planned for February 24 but weather conditions forced a postponement.
The theme this year, according to director Judy Haught, is “Brave New World,” focusing on futuristic literature and technological innovation. The competing students have a full agenda of research and writing time before submitting their entry for judgment. WARP allows the participating students to receive valuable feedback on their research and writing skills.
High school English and social studies teachers will attend a workshop on using popular culture and media in the classroom and developing digital literacies.
The event begins with registration at 8:30 a.m. in Mackey Hall and concludes at 2 p.m. For additional information, contact Haught at 580.28.5533, extension 159, or email her at email@example.com.
