One-Act Plays Staged April 22-24 at SWOSU

04.20.2015

Southwestern Oklahoma State University’s Department of Art, Communication, and Theatre will present Directions: Student-Directed & Designed One-Act Plays this Wednesday through Friday, April 22-24, on the Weatherford campus.

Directions is designed for students in SWOSU’s Play Directing & Production and Lighting Design courses to present their final projects.

Admission is free to all plays that begin each evening at 7 p.m. in the SWOSU Hilltop Theatre.

In Steve Strickler’s Play Directing & Production class, the students have been learning a technical method for examining the structure of all play scripts in order to show how plays are made and how directors can prepare.  The students have put these skills to work on their own individual projects.  There will be a total of 10 one-act plays presented during the three nights. A wide variety of plays will be offered, including comedy, drama and mystery.

The student directors have the unique opportunity to work with students in Debra P. Holmes’ Lighting Design course to experience the process of directors and lighting designers collaborating on a production.  They apply the techniques, craft, and art of lighting to their projects; thus, the designers get to see a fully realized design process.

The student directors are Kris Benton, Corianne Fairchild, Dannielle Faul, Sheri Flowers, Amber Hayes, Wes Hayes, Zac Hokeah, Rhiannon Jensen, LuChieh-Lin and Kaylee Willyard. The lighting designers for the productions are Lindsee Scott, Carlyn Magness, Zachary Hokeah, Larry Cribbs, Corianne Fairchild, Kris Benton, Raven White, Chandler Seaton, Dannielle Faul, Nakita Young, LuChieh-Lin and Beth Goodin.
