International Multi-Media Exhibition Taking Place at SWOSU
"Cultural Marriage Series 3: Everyone Wears Thick Black Glasses," is an exhibition and series of workshops given by international multi-media artist and graphic designer Jiwon Kim that will be coming October 7-November 7 to Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford.
The SWOSU Visiting Artist Program is sponsoring the series of events.
Kim's works—encompassing traditional art forms, design and technology—center on the role of design in establishing and building personal and group identity. His projects range from illustrations and prints to branding and packaging projects, interactive media projects and web designs.
Kim spent more than 20 years as a successful designer in private industry. He is currently on the art faculty of Oral Roberts University in Tulsa.
The exhibition begins in the lobby of the SWOSU Art Building with a presentation by Kim on Wednesday, October 7, at 10 a.m. There will be a reception at 12 noon on Friday, October 9. The exhibition will remain open in the SWOSU Art Building from October 7 through November 7, and area residents may view on Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Three hands-on workshops will be held for people interested in learning more about graphic design/illustration. The workshops will be held in the Art Building on Wednesday, October 7, at 2 p.m.; Thursday, October 8, at 1 p.m.; and Friday, October 9, at 10 a.m. Those interested in taking part in these workshops are encouraged to make reservations at firstname.lastname@example.org, but drop-ins are also welcome.
The programming is made possible in part by a grant from the Oklahoma Arts Council. For further information, contact Dr. E.K. Jeong at email@example.com.
