Former SWOSU Queens to Emcee Saturday's Pageants
A pair of former Southwestern Oklahoma State University queens will serve as emcees and entertain at the Miss SWOSU Scholarship and Miss SWOSU’s Outstanding Teen pageants this Saturday, November 7, on the Weatherford campus.
Sarah Copeland of Elk City and Ashley Wheeler of Norman will emcee the pageants. Copeland was Miss SWOSU 2010 and Wheeler was SWOSU’s first-ever Miss SWOSU’s Outstanding Teen in 2009.
Copeland is project administrator for MarkWest Oklahoma Gas Company. During her first year of college, she decided to give pageants a chance and won the title of Miss Elk City 2009 and won the Miss Elk City title again in 2011. In between the two, she won the Miss SWOSU title. Copeland won multiple awards at the Miss Oklahoma Pageant and is the only girl in history to be named Miss Congenitally for three consecutive years.
Wheeler was born and raised in Altus. She placed Top Ten in the Miss Oklahoma Outstanding Teen Pageant in 2009 and 2010. She also placed Top Ten in the Miss Oklahoma Pageant in 2014 and 2015 and was an overall preliminary talent winner in 2015. Wheeler has been singing and performing since the age of 7 and was an executive casting audition finalist this year in Los Angeles for Season 10 of “The Voice.”
The Miss SWOSU Pageant starts at 7 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center on the SWOSU campus, while the teen pageant starts at 3 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center. Advance tickets are $10 for the general public and $5 for individuals with an SWOSU I.D. All tickets at the door are $15.
