SWOSU Receives $30,000 OCAST Grant for Student Internships

Southwestern Oklahoma State University's Dr. Andrea Holgado, Dr. Sophia Lee and Brad Bryant recently received a $30,000 grant from the Oklahoma Center for Advancement of Science and Technology (OCAST) Student Intern Partnerships program.

The SWOSU project titled “Creating opportunities for advancing basic research, applied research and technology development” coordinates internships in areas of biomedicine, music therapy and engineering technology through collaborative partnerships with Analytical Research Labs, Children’s Center and Rehabilitation Hospital in Oklahoma City, and HSI Sensing.

Holgado said the goal of the SWOSU program is to inspire students in basic research, applied research, and technology development to advance knowledge and contribute with viable innovative products, services and processes for lasting positive economic and societal impact.

Monies from the OCAST intern partnerships program allocated to SWOSU will be used to fund a total of five interns: two summer internships at Analytical Research Labs, one 26 week-long internship at the Children’s Center and Rehabilitation Hospital; and two summer internships at HSI Sensing.  Applications for internship positions will become available via the Bulldog Job Board on the SWOSU website early February 2016.
