SWOSU Frat Sit-a-thon to Benefit Children's Hospital
The 8th annual Sit-a-thon by Southwestern Oklahoma State University’s Tau Kappa Epsilon (TKE) social fraternity will begin on Monday, March 28, and continue for 82 straight hours in an effort to raise money and awareness for St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
The TKEs will be sitting at the Weatherford campus Clock Tower starting Monday at 8 a.m. through Thursday evening at 8 p.m.
TKE’s will be accepting donations for St. Jude’s and having various fundraising activities as well. The activities include throwing water balloons at members, dumping a five gallon bucket of water over their members’ heads, Pie-a-TKE and even TKE-Tack-Toe. All proceeds from this event will go directly to St. Jude’s.
Blake Burke said TKE believes in supporting St. Jude Children’s Hospital, thanks to the founder of St. Jude’s, Danny Thomas, who was a member of TKE. Thomas had a vision that someday, every child would be able to obtain free, effective care while battling cancer.
By donating to St. Jude’s, the TKE’s enjoy contributing to help provide the best modern care available. While St. Jude’s leads the fight against cancer in both research and treatment, the TKE’s want to do anything they can to support the fight. The TKE’s have a goal of raising $1,500 for St. Jude’s.
