Sanders, Gieswein Awarded $3,000 in SWOSU-Sayre Scholarships

Brandy Sanders and Paul Gieswein, both of Elk City, were recently awarded Southwestern Oklahoma State University-Sayre Foundation scholarships for continuing students.

Each SWOSU-Sayre student received a $1,500 scholarship from Interbank.

The scholarships are awarded to continuing students based on grades, community involvement, work ethic and leadership qualities.

“Brandy and Paul are worthy recipients, because they exemplify the traits necessary to succeed in college,” said SWOSU-Sayre Dean Sherron Manning.  “The generous scholarships from Interbank will help them achieve their educational goals.”

After completing general education requirements at SWOSU-Sayre, Sanders, a freshman, will pursue a bachelor’s degree in English Education at the Weatherford campus.  She hopes to get her feet wet teaching at the high school level, but her ultimate goal is to become a college instructor.

Gieswein is a first-year student in the two-year SWOSU-Sayre Radiologic Technology program.  He comes from a long line of health care professionals, so he decided to carry on the family tradition.

Manning congratulated both scholarship winners on behalf of SWOSU-Sayre.

“We are very proud of Brandy and Paul and wish them the best as they continue their education,” Manning said.
