SWOSU Business and Technology Students Win Awards at State Competition


Southwestern Oklahoma State University's Everett Dobson School of Business and Technology in Weatherford recently won 11 first-place awards at the Phi Beta Lambda state competition held recently in Tulsa.

SWOSU students attending the 2016 PBL State conference were: Caroline Tatro, Sam Wollman, Shelby Crosley, Maegan Yost, Bailey Deutschendorf, Ryan Schmid, Madison Cochran, Cameron Page, Sierra Hopson, Ben Sanders, Emily Watkins, Emmaly Helt, and Aziz Almotairi.

The SWOSU chapter also received numerous other awards, including six second-place awards and two third-place awards. 

The students will travel to Atlanta (GA) in June to compete against 8,000 students from around the state and nation.

"Connect" was the theme for the 2016 conference held at Tulsa Community College. OPBL is the collegiate division of the national association, Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda, Inc.   

PBL is an organization of people preparing for success as leaders in business, government and communities. PBL's mission is to bring business and education together in a positive working relationship through innovative leadership and career development programs.

Jonna Myers, instructor in the School of Business, is the advisor of the local chapter and accompanied the students on the trip. Attendance at the conference was partially funded by SWOSU student fees.
