SWOSU Alumni & Friends Magazine Relaunched

06.08.2016

The Southwestern Oklahoma State University Foundation, Inc. and the SWOSU Alumni Association, Inc. have relaunched Echoes From the Hill, a magazine of SWOSU’s friends, supporters, alumni and emeriti.

The publication returns in a Spring 2016 edition after an absence of several years.

“We are delighted to return Echoes From the Hill to its historical place as the recognized magazine of the wider SWOSU community,” said Garrett King, executive director of the SWOSU Foundation and SWOSU Alumni Association. “This publication reflects much of our university’s rich history while also sharing some of today’s remarkable ‘SWOSU stories.’”

Echoes From the Hill was first published in December 1965 as “an experimental publication” by the Office of Public Relations at the then-Southwestern State College in Weatherford. Over the nearly half-century since that first edition was printed, Echoes has become an important means by which SWOSU’s many alumni, emeriti, supporters and friends worldwide stay connected to the university.

For the latest edition of Echoes, the SWOSU Foundation and SWOSU Alumni Association partnered with the family of the late Professor Jerry Nye, whose distinguished tenure at SWOSU is discussed in the magazine. The Foundation and the Association are also appreciative to Jones Public Relations of Oklahoma City for their invaluable assistance in the project.

Issues of the Spring 2016 Echoes From the Hill are arriving in mailboxes now, and the magazine may also be viewed online by visiting www.SWOSUEchoesFromTheHill.com. Echoes From the Hill is produced thanks to the generosity of SWOSU’s private donors, and no taxpayer dollars were used to print or send the magazine. Continued publication of Echoes rests on continued private support; contributions may be made at www.GivetoSWOSU.com.

The SWOSU Foundation, Inc. was established in 1977 to promote philanthropy and distribute funds to support the activities and programs of SWOSU. The Foundation currently stewards over $20 million in assets for the benefit of SWOSU. The SWOSU Alumni Association, Inc. is a dynamic group of volunteers from all walks of life who are passionate about giving back to SWOSU. The Association offers members a variety of benefits and event opportunities. Both organizations are headquartered on the Weatherford campus in the historic Burton House and are working together daily to ensure that SWOSU’s second century is as remarkable as its first.
